Among the various species of the genus Ocimum one is Occimum tenuiflorum which is commonly known as Krishna Tulsi. Krishna Tulsi is most commonly found in India. It is also known as dark holy basil due to its dark purple leaves and dark brown stems. It has strong aroma and peppery taste. By these features Krishna Tulsi can be differentiated from other species.
Along with the holy values of Krishna Tulsi it has many medicinal values. It’s leaves are used as antimicrobial, antioxidant, antipyretic and as cardio protective. Also it can be used to treat throat infections, respiratory system, ear pain and skin diseases.
